Sterilizing rocks for guinea pigs?

I need to put something at the corners of my cage so my guinea pigs don't go underneath the fleece and drag their food there. In my book it said to put rocks on the corners if that happens, but it didn't say how to sterilize them. Right now I have them soaking in hot water. Anything else I should do?
